Faith Against Fracking

We are a community of faith leaders and people of faith calling on world leaders to ban fracking and other extreme fossil fuel extraction techniques. A fundamental cornerstone of most, if not all faiths, is the imperative to protect creation. Pope Francis' recent Encyclical on Climate Change called on all people living in our common home to be good stewards of the planet, "to protect the world, and not prey on it."  Since fracking and other extreme fossil fuel extraction methods destroy the environment and hurt our communities, they must be stopped.

Faith Against Fracking Letter Delivery

NOVEMBER 12, 2015

The science is in: for a livable world, we have to keep fossil fuels in the ground. And the moral imperative is clear: We have a responsibility to act now. Governor Brown is a man of science and faith. It's time for him to do the right thing and make our future frack-free.

On November 12th, we will be traveling to Sacramento to deliver a letter to Governor Brown, signed by over 100 faith leaders from around the state, calling on him to stop fracking and extreme fossil fuel extraction. Preceding the delivery, we’ll come together for meditation, prayer and collective positive visioning for a world beyond toxic fossil fuel extraction that’s run by clean renewable energy; a world that doesn’t poison people to power our lives. The event will take place on the west steps of the Capitol Building in Sacramento on Thursday, November 12th at 11:00am. Please join us as we put our prayers for creation and the future of this planet into action.
